MONTEREY SELECT BOARD
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF NOVEMBER 29, 2004
The regular weekly meeting of the Monterey Select Board was opened at 8:30 a.m. with members Jonathan Sylbert (Chair) and Michael Storch present. Selectwoman Michèle Miller was absent from the meeting.
· The Board met with Chief Gareth Backhaus to review Police Department items, including a report on a recent five-town hazardous material drill at Berkshire School conducted by the Southern Berkshire Regional Emergency Planning Committee.
· The Board met with Director of Operations Maynard Forbes to review Highway Department items, as follows:
o Fairview Road project plans: Final draft of abutter letters were approved
o Town Hall renovation
o Salt shed
· The Board discussed Police Department procedures with Police Officer Kyle Whalley.
· The Board consulted with Town Clerk Barbara Swann regarding the wording of several Special Articles. The Board announced that the date for the Special Town Meeting has been changed to Thursday, December 16, 2004, at 7 p.m. at the Monterey Firehouse. The Board also rescheduled its monthly informational meeting for Monday, December 13, at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall, at which time there will be discussion of Article 2 (transfer of $65,000 from Free Cash to a Cadastral Mapping Account). The Warrant was signed by the Board, certified by the Town Clerk, and given to Constable Ray Tryon for posting.
· The Board met with Building Commissioner Don Torrico to review building department items. There was discussion of the Article for the Special Town Meeting amending the zoning bylaws with regard to Section VIII B – Exceptions which do not require a building permit. It was determined that the entire section should be deleted.
· The clerk was given instructions regarding correspondence.
· The Minutes of November 22, 2004, were approved as written.
· It was unanimously voted that the meeting be adjourned (12:15 p.m.).
